Virginia

Virginia has so many great places to see, but we were in Richmond to see a former student doing great things in the world. Please allow to provide a little backstory on Jackson.

I first met Jackson as an elementary student when he played the flute and then again years later when he was a student at the local high school. Jackson was not only a great young floutist but he had the personality to match. He was a smart, outgoing kid that you just knew would be successful in life. We obviously lost touch after he graduated but thanks to social media we were able to reconnect a few years ago.

Jackson invited us down for a visit and we were excited to see him working on his radio show at Q94 Richmond. It was so good to see him in his element and hear about all the great things he was doing. I was even able to go on the radio with him for a few minutes and that was a thrill for me. He also took us on a tour of the area followed by dinner at Lola’s Cocina, one of his favorite spots for Mexican food.

Jessica had also never been to Bush Gardens so we made sure to leave a day to have some amusement park fun. If you haven’t been and love rollercoasters, rides and animals make sure you save time to go. The morning before we flew home we were lucky to stumble across Duck Donuts for some great donuts. Apparently the Richmond location has closed but there are many other locations so if you are traveling, check to see if there are any near you.

We weren’t in Short Pump long but we want to mention a few places…. we stayed at The Aloft Richmond West Hotel per Jacskon’s recommendation and it was great. Very hip, modern and clean in a great location. https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/rical-aloft-richmond-west-short-pump/?scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2&y_source=1_Mjc4MjMyNS03MTUtbG9jYXRpb24uZ29vZ2xlX3dlYnNpdGVfb3ZlcnJpZGU%3D

It was a short but memorable trip and we are so thankful that Jackson took the time to show us around. Jackson is also an airline steward for United Airlines, and he is an on air DJ for Fun 107 FM weekday mornings from 10-12. I also want to mention that his new Podcast “Jackson, If You’re Nasty launches this Friday, May 7th.

Jackson in his element.
