Harry’s Bar and Grille

If aviation is a hobby of yours AND you enjoy great food, Harry’s needs to be on your must visit restaurant list. Alright….even if you aren’t into aviation we just think you’ll love Harry’s!!

Once again, we visited Harry’s back in early September but I am just now catching up on my blog posts. I need to quit my day job and find a way to get paid to travel and eat my way through life. Ahhhh….it’s nice to dream. 😉

Ok, back to reality! We had Pat Mello ( my mother) and Lexi Mello (my niece) as guest “Spooners” so we were able to sample more food which is always a good thing!

I absolutely love the interior of Harry’s…….from it’s airplane lights, propellers for ceiling fans, and the staff donning “flight crew” shirts, it’s obvious that the owner is an aviation enthusiast.

No matter what time of time of day you drive by Harry’s you will find a parking lot full of cars. Our visit was no exception, but after a very short wait we were seated and greeted by Kimberly from the wait staff.

While we waited for our drink order, we looked over the menu and admired all of the LARGE portions of amazing looking selections as they passed by our table. We were there for a late lunch so we figured we would order some apps and a few meals to get a better sampling.

My mother ordered Steamers (1.5lbs for $18.99) and I ordered Comanche skins with bacon for the table to share; 3 for $9.99 but I added bacon for additional $3.00 The Steamers were fresh, clean and sweet; just what you would expect out of Steamers in New England.

The Comanche skins ( aka potato skins) were HUGE and loaded with a gooey blend of melted cheese and topped with a crispy bacon. They hit the table and I immediately regretted by decision to make them shareable 🙁 With that said, they were much too large to eat all by myself, but I would have tried because I’m not a quitter!!! LOL

For our main meals, Lexi ordered the Chicken Tender Basket ($17.99) half done with garlic parmesan and half with Asian style sauce. The tenders were sauced perfectly. There’s nothing worse than an under sauced or an over sauced tender! Served with onion rings, French fries and Cole slaw; the basket was more than enough for Lexi. The rings and fries had the perfect amount of crispiness and the tenders were large, juicy and full of flavor.

My mother was feeling full from her steamers and chose to have an order the bone in Jumbo Jet Wings (Bourbon flavored, 4 for $10.50) as her main meal. There are good number of sauces from which to choose, and you can get four, six, eight or ten wings.

From what I’ve heard, Harry’s is well known for their wings, and after a quick taste of the Bourbon wings I was hooked. Tangy, sweet, savory and full of juicy chicken, I know I will be back in the future to try some of the other flavors.

I had a tough time deciding what I wanted to order but I kept going back to the Country Fried Chicken (2 pieces for $14.99) Jessica and I have been craving some good fried chicken since visiting New Orleans so we both couldn’t resist trying Harry’s . I’m not sure how this happened but neither of us took a picture of our meal. I will tell you that it was fantastic!!! Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and flavor that takes over your taste buds, this chicken even impressed Jessica and she is a bit of a fried chicken aficionado!!! I don’t usually order friend chicken at restaurants but I would order this again in a heartbeat! I even contemplated taking a “Bucket O’ Chicken” home 🙂

With everything that we ordered at the table, nobody had room for dessert. Next time Harry’s …..next time.

From Apps to Dessert, the menu at Harry’s is no slouch! Definitely more than enough options for everyone and food that reminds me of home. More than generous portion sizes and prices that are fair for the quality of the food, Harry’s provides a smooth trip from take-off to landing.

Take our advice, get in your cockpit and take flight to Harry’s…..oh and don’t forget to tell them that Two Girls sent you!

Happy Spooning !https://www.harrysbarandgrille.com/menu#menu=menu
