Mooo

When you hear the word Mooo that last word that comes to mind is elegance and class, but dining at Mooo Restaurant is a shining example of both. Located on Boston’s Beacon Hill, Mooo is a modern steakhouse that gets it right from decor to dessert.

The modern decor and warm tones provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and sophisticated dining experience. I was hoping to take some interior pictures but the restaurant was full even on a Monday night, so I could only grab a quick look. There are fantastic pictures on the Moo website. Full disclosure…this is our second time at Mooo, but we visited many years before we started the blog and felt the need to make it an official “Two Girls” visit. We just had to make the sacrifice for our readers.. 😉

We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated immediately. A member of the serving staff came over with menus and our waiter followed shortly after to take our drink order and welcome us to Mooo.

The Menu at Mooo includes several appetizer options and the main entrees heavily favor various steak options….after all….. you are at a restaurant called Mooo, so that is to be expected.

Shortly after we were seated a member of the staff came by with our warm rolls with butter. OH THE ROLLS! I had completely forgotten about the warm, soft rolls topped with a hint of salt. Melt in your mouth!

For our last visit, Jessica and I started with Calamari (excellent), so this time we wanted to try the Japanese Waygu Beef Dumplings ($28). The appetizer came with four perfectly formed dumplings laying delicately in a sweet and savory broth topped with micro greens. The dumplings were fantastic and a great start to another Mooo experience!!! I blinked and they were gone!

Since this was not our first trip to Mooo we already knew what we wanted for our entree’s. Jessica is a fan of the Sirloin ($58) and I am all about the Filet($64) Honestly, I can’t imagine going wrong with any of the steak choices.

All of the steak entrees are served A’ la carte and there are 10 options from which to choose. A few options include: Truffled Parmesan Fries, Exotic Mushrooms, and Lobster Mac and Cheese. From our last visit, we knew the sides were big enough for 2 so we decided to share the whipped potatoes ($10). Sooo creamy and buttery….I could have licked the plate, but I’ve heard that’s frowned upon in most establishments. 🙂 Two Girls Suggestion: Order 2 or 3 different sides so the table can enjoy a variety.

One of the unique offerings at Mooo is having your choice of sauce to compliment your steak. Sauce choices include: Au Poivre($6), Bearnaise($4), Red Wine($5), Borelaise($5), Mooo Steak Sauce($5) and Madeira and Black Truffle($8). Jessica chose the Madeira and Black Truffle while I opted for the Red Wine. Any sauce can be served on the side which is a great option in our opinion. Add a little dolop of maitre d’hotel butter(served on the side) with your selected sauce, to a perfectly cooked steak, and you have jumped onto the train headed into flavor town! All ABOARD!

Jess and I both cleaned our plates but did leave just enough room for dessert. We were far more prepared this time….last time we did not order dessert. Shame on us!!!

The dessert menu at Mooo isn’t extensive but certainly has enough offerings to satisfy many a sweet tooth. Being chocolate lovers, we chose the Valrhona Chocolate Cake. If the words moist chocolate ganache, chocolate creamaux, and vanilla bean ice cream don’t entice you….we may not be able to be friends!! 🙂 LOL! It was fabulous!

The menu at Mooo has offerings other than steaks, and I’m sure that any entree on the menu would be top notch. Now, with that said, Mooo is what we would consider to be a higher end restaurant experience. Without alcoholic beverages our bill with tip was $280. Don’t get me wrong, we are more than willing to pay for great food and service, but we would visit this calaber restaurant for a special occasion as opposed to every day dining.

Mooo also offers a full bar and an award winning wine list.

If you have a special occasion coming up or are looking for a more sophisticated dining experience, we highly suggest setting your GPS to 15 Beacon St, Boston Ma….oh and don’t forget to tell them that Two Girls Spooning sent you!!!!

Happy Spooning! http://mooorestaurant.com/
