Grand Bellevue Dinner Train

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience and enjoy trains, this is for you. Departing from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, The Grand Bellevue is a formal dinner train featuring dining cars from the 1940’s. The 2.5 hour dinner train also features seasonal lunch outings, holiday events and a murder mystery train. If you are a regular to our blog, you have seen that we have did the Cape Cod dinner train before Covid hit. The Grand Bellevue is not as formal and serves less food courses, but is a nice night out regardless of those differences.

When you book the ride you will also be picking what you would like to eat for the night from appetizers to dessert.

We decided against an appetizer and both chose The Marinated Grilled New York Strip for dinner and the Chocolate Lovers Dessert. All of the entrees are cooked in the kitchen car so you know you are getting fresh, not heated meals.

We started with a cup of Basil Bisque which both of us have never tried. The bisque had a tomato base and a nice balance of basil and garlic flavors. We both enjoyed it very much. After the bisque, we were served raspberry sorbet as a palate cleanser and I’m not ashamed to say I ate both mine and Jessica’s. I was cleansed for both of us! LOL!

The Steak, served with roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus, was cooked to a perfect medium well. The steak, potatoes, and asparagus were served with a sweet balsamic glaze that was a perfect compliment to the entree. We were both full but excited for dessert!

The Chocolate lovers dessert was fantastic! It reminded me of a flourless chocolate cake but lighter in density. It was a nice ending to a great meal.

Our total bill for the experience was a little under $200.00 with tip. Alcohol, soda and coffee are not included in the price when you buy your tickets. It is pricey so it wouldn’t be a regular activity, but perfect for a special night out.
