Avvio Ristorante

If you’ve been to the Garden City Center in Cranston Rhode Island, then you’ve probably passed by a Avivo restaurant. With over 60 retailers and several restaurants from which to choose, Avvio may have not have been on your radar…….but we highly suggest you add it to your must visit list!

We made a reservation a few days before so we were seated immediately upon our arrival. I always prefer making a reservation especially when trying out a new spot. I am not a fan of playing the ” I hope they don’t have a long wait” game. Waiting makes me hangry! 🙂

Our server greeted us immediately and made sure we had water, fresh bread and the menu of specials.

The bread served with rosemary and garlic infused oil. Needless to say we made short work of that! The restaurant is clean with warm, dark tones, low lighting, and an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work and see the blazing woodfired oven. Ready to make a perfect pizza.

For an appetizer, we started out with potato croquettes ($7 appetizer special) with gremolata sauce sitting on a bed of gremolata and parmesan cheese. They were light and crispy with a smooth creamy potato filling. This small plate appetizer came with 2 croquettes, but to be honest I could eat those all day like potato chips! Soooo good!

For entrées, we chose to split a margarita pizza. I decided on chicken piccata, and Jessica chose potato gnocchi. The chicken piccata was exploding with a creamy lemon flavored sauce sauce, perfectly cooked wedges of crispy potatoes, and green beans that were absolutely perfectly cooked which is very rare at many restaurants in my opinion.

Jessica ‘s gnocchi was absolutely phenomenal. Jessica kept saying and I quote “it’s so cheesy and delicious”. The gnocchi is clearly fresh and I have to admit that after stealing a bite, I was all ready to come back and get that on our next visit.

The margarita pizza was fantastic topped with the sweetest tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese, and pieces of basil. Oh and the dough….oh that dough 🙂

From start to finish Avvio Ristorante’ checks off all the boxes. We were too full for dessert ( this visit) but we will be back because that potato gnocchi is calling my name. If a hard day of retail therapy has you feeling hangry, Jess and I highly recommend stopping in at Avvio! Oh, and don’t forget to tell them Two Girls Spooning sent you 🙂

Happy Spooning!

Sara and Jess
