The Square Peg

If you’re in the vicinity of Warren Rhode Island and your stomach starts growling, GPS your way over to The Square Peg restaurant. You aren’t going to find an extensive menu here but you will find good flavors and a fun chill vibe. We arrived for our 6:00 reservation time and were seated right away. The Square Peg is a relatively small place and is quite popular amongst the locals, so we recommend a reservation, even during the week.

The restaurant was bustling with activity and we were greeted quickly by a friendly waitress that took our drink and appetizer order. If you haven’t been to a restauant since Covid began, you will now find that most restaurants offer paper menu’s or you can use the camera on your phone to scan a QR code that will take you to the menu.

Upon scanning the menu and noticing mostly burgers and sandwiches, we decided to order two different appetizers. We chose the Honey BBQ Wings $8.50(on special) and Spinach and Artichoke Dip ($9). The wings were fantastic! They were fried to crispy perfection, had a nice tangy BBQ flavor, and were served with a very different, but flavorful ranch dressing. I not only enjoyed the wings, but it was also a nice surprise to see good size pieces of bacon the plate! How can you go wrong with wings and bacon???? I would have prefered a bit more sauce on the wings, but otherwise they were finger licking good! Jessica enjoyed the very creamy and cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip. My lactose intolerance meant that I had to take her word for it, but I will say that it smelled delicious! The chips that came with the dip were crisp, light, and had a nice flavor. Jessica suspected that they were homemade and the waitress confirmed that they are made daily in house. With good size, great tasting appetizers we were certainly off to a good start!!

For our main meals I chose to “Build a Burger” ( $10) and Jessica went with the Fish Tacos ( $12) The burger, served on a buttered toasted bun, was cooked to a prefect medium well and had a nice fresh flavor. With plenty of crispy fries on the side I can’t see you going wrong with any burger on the menu! For Jessica, the Tacos were a HUGE hit! With a crispy crusted haddock for a base, the tasty taco’s didn’t stay on the plate for very long. Jessica said they were amongst the best she’s had in this area.

The waitress did ask if we were interested in dessert but we were full. We will save that for our next visit.

The Square Peg proves that you don’t need a large menu to make a big impression! Take a ride down to Warren Rhode Island and give The Square Peg a try and don’t forget to tell them that Two Girls Spooning sent you!

Happy Spooning!

*** On a non food note, the Square Peg ( along with many restaurants in this area) doesn’t have a parking lot. Street parking can be a challenge as it is a thickly settled area. If you have a resrevation I would leave ample time to find parking so you arrive on time.
