Southside Tavern Resturant

If you want to avoid the traffic and parking challenges that come along with eating in Boston, The Southside Tavern and Restaurant is a great option.  Located at 941 Washington Street in Braintree Ma, the Southside Tavern offers good food, friendly service, modern atmosphere, ample parking, and a menu that had something for everyone.

Once again, we were with a larger party so I was excited to be able to try more of the menu offerings.  We started out with fried pickles and calamari ( if you are a blog follower you won’t be shocked by the choice of calamari).  The fried pickles ($8.99) were hot, tangy, crispy and served with ranch dressing on the side.  There were more than enough to satisfy our party of five.  The calamari ($10.99)  didn’t disappoint either; fresh, light and served with marinara on the side.

For dinner “L” ordered a classic burger ($8.99), a huge half pound burger on a gourmet bun with, what I think, may be the biggest pickle I have ever seen! LOL!  A fun side option with all burgers and sandwiches are the tater tots ( who doesn’t love tater tots??)

“A” opted for the turkey burger ($9.99) topped with swiss cheese and sriracha aioli on a gourmet bun and tater tots.  Both ladies enjoyed their burgers and commented that they were huge!  You can’t go wrong with a tasty burger!!!

Jess had the house marinated steak tips ($17.99) with a heaping amount of mashed potatoes and green beans.  She said they were cooked to her liking, tender and had a nice flavor.  They certainly don’t skimp on the amount of food on the plate!

For myself, I was craving a turkey club ($8.99) and I have to say that it was one of my favorites!  REAL carved turkey, crispy bacon and fresh tomatoes graced this enormous sandwich served on Texas toast.  With enough crispy fries on the side to feed an army, I was a happy camper.

I would also like to add that a member of our party has some serious dietary restrictions and they were more than accommodating making her a plain turkey sandwich and a plain baked potatoe.  Our waitress was certain to be sure that everything on her plate was satisfactiory and she was enjoying her dinner.  As someone with food allergies myself, it was nice to see her attention to detail and it shows she cares about her customers. Kudos to her!

We didn’t have time for dessert but there were several options on the menu.

If you want a great spot to grab a bite coming back from or heading into Boston give the Southside Tavern and Restaurant a try.  You won’t be disappointed!  Happy Spooning!
