PVD Food Truck Events
Two Girls Spooning took a quick road trip this weekend to the Newport Car Museum for a PVD Food Truck Event. The PVD Food truck events run throughout the summer in various locations around Rhode Island. We had never been to a PVD event so we wanted to arrive early in case parking was difficult and food lines were long. This particular event had two time slots 12-3 and 3-7.
We arrived at the Car Museum around 12:30 and had no trouble parking. There was a $5.00 fee to park. We brought our own chairs as the website suggested and found a spot on the grass. There were about 12 trucks and from what the sign at the entrance said, the variety of trucks changes from event to event. We decided to take a walk around to see what each had to offer.….let the games begin!
After our walk around, I knew it would be difficult to choose what to eat. From BBQ to waffles….Portuguese to Irish….there was something for everyone. Honestly, I think we could have eaten something from each one but we did manage some self-control….as difficult as that was to do! I decided to go with BBQ brisket, fries, and cornbread from Baby’s Bonetown BBQ and Jess started with a Quahog (no shell) from Flip N Roll American & Portuguese Cuisine and then moved on to Mac and Cheese with Bacon from Poppy’s Waffles. Needless to say, everything was fantastic and the prices were reasonable for what you got, in our opinion. We took a bit of a break and enjoyed the live music before heading back out for some dessert. At this particular event there weren’t many options for dessert but we hit the jackpot with what they had. Jess had a Fried Dough from Poppy’s Waffles and I had fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate from ShishkaBerries. The strawberries were sweet and so big that I ended up bringing a few home, and Jessica’s fried dough was the best I have ever had!! Light and fluffy, no grease at all, with the topping of your choice. There was more than enough for both of us and we agreed it was worth going just for the fried dough!!!
Food trucks aren’t necessarily the cheapest way to eat but you can’t beat the variety and specialty offerings. If you’re a local or coming to Rhode Island for a visit take a look at the PVD food truck website for updated event locations. https://www.foodtrucksin.com/food-truck-events
I can guarantee this won’t be our last PVD food truck event for the summer and who knows, maybe we will meet up for some group spooning!
Happy Spooning!
