David’s Restaurant

Located at 70 Church Street, David’s restaurant opened in February of 2020 and already has a strong local following. As we pulled up my first thought was well, parking is tough ( street parking only) but if the food is good, people will come…. and they have come! The restaurant was packed and shortly after we arrived, the line was out the door. We only waited about 10 minutes ( they do take reservations but only for parties of 4 or more) and while we waited I was already impressed with how the food looked and smelled as it was going by.

We were seated and I took a minute to look around. David’s has a large bar area ( not being used) and a good number of tables ( 20 or so but that’s a complete guess). The restaurant is extremely clean and all of the staff were appropriately wearing masks. They do have regular menus but if you prefer you can use your camera to scan the QR code to get the menu if that makes you more comfortable. It’s nice that most restaurants now are providing that as an option.

The menu is large and has some adventurous dishes that you don’t usually see so that peaked our interest especially if we would be going back. We had ample time to look over the menu as Kelly, our waitress, came by to take our drink order…. a Sierra Mist and a Sangria….nothing exciting but Jessica did enjoy the Sangria ($6.00)

For an appetizer Jessica wanted to try the Mozambique Fries ( on special $8.00). As the lactose intolerant one I had to take a back seat because they are loaded with cheese. The portion was a good size for an appetizer and I immediately noticed that the fries were hand cut….. that’s a good sign! Jess loved them! I couldn’t resist trying a few that weren’t covered with cheese and I was in agreement. Great flavor and plenty of sauce on the fries. Jess ate most of them with instant regret because she was already full and we had a feeling good things were to follow. So far so good!

For entree’s Jess ordered the Steak and Chicken Pasta served with linguini or penne ($18) and I ordered the Chicken Alentejana ($14). Many Alentejana dishes come with pickled cauliflower and I was happy to see only chicken and lots of cubed potatoes in the dish. I was not dissapointed. Great flavor in the sauce and more than enough for me to take home leftovers. I had to control myself from taking bread and sopping up all the delicious sauce. Some self control is better than none!! LOL! 🙂 Jess was very happy with her dish…..I mean how can you go wrong with 2 proteins and linguica floating around an al dente pasta. It’s a portuguese girls dream!!! David’s was firing on all cylinders!

As we were finishing up we already decided that we would be back to try some of the other dishes. We both took home leftovers and we found the prices to be in line with other restaurants of the same quality. David’s has only been around for a little more than a year, but we think if they continue to produce great food and reasonable prices, they will be around for many years to come.

Take a drive over to David’s Restaurant, you will be glad you did. Oh ya…don’t forget to tell that that Two Girls Spooning sent you!!

Happy Spooning!

Sara and Jess
