19 Prime Tapas
Do you enjoy Tapas? The Southcoast isn’t exactly bustling with Tapas style restaurants but Fall River is home to one of the very best. 19 Prime Tapas, located at 19 Jerimiah Sullivan Drive, is a wonderland for the taste buds!
Once again, we were delighted to have our friends and guest spooners, Jerry and Laurie with us on this culinary adventure. We had made reservations for 6:00 on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. 19 Prime has a bar area as well as both indoor and outdoor seating, but it is a relatively small place so we highly recommend making a reservation. Street parking seems to be the only option so we parked in the nearby bank lot because it was closed. During the week, you may want to leave extra time to find a parking space.
The interior clean and stylish, adding to the pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The hostess was friendly and our waitress ( also very friendly) came right over to take our drink order and explain the Tapas menu. For Tapas, you can choose 3 for $30 out of the following: Calamari, Fried Cauliflower, Roasted Honey Wings, Tater Cubes, Shrimp 19, Edamame Dumplings, Roasted Sprouts and Truffle Fries. My mouth was watering before any food hit the table!!! As a group we decided to try the Tater Cubes, Roasted Sprouts and Edamame Dumplings. Needless to say…they were all fantastic!!!! All of our samplings were fresh, cooked to perfection, flavorfull and at our table within about 10 minutes. Honestly, I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the options. We were batting a thousand for sure! I couldn’t wait for my entree!!!!!
The entree menu isn’t extensive but they have some great choices. Normally, we each order something different but Jerry, Laurie and I all thought the Braised Short Rib served with grape tomatoes over potato gnocchi would be a winner….and we were right!!! The short rib literally fell off the bone as I was cutting it and the port wine reduction made for a nice place for the tender meat to fall and soak up all the deliciousness. A virtual melt in your mouth home run!
Jessica ordered the Honey Garlic Crusted Chicken served over mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables, in a butter chardonnay sauce. Both the asparagus and chicken were perfectly cooked and the buttery sauce was a tasty compliment to the honey garlic flavoring. Wine, butter, honey and garlic? That has winner written all over it!
By the end of dinner we were all stuffed but, if nothing else, we aren’t quitters so we took on some desserts. There are only a few options so we chose to share a Creme brulee’ and a Nutella Mousse cake. Both were enjoyable but I have to admit I would like to have seen a few more dessert options. On the ride home I was thinking maybe they could try out a tapas dessert option. After all, 3 or 4 desserts is better than just one. Wouldn’t you agree?? If anyone from the restaurant wants to contact me, I would be happy to be a tapas dessert consultant. 😉
In all honesty, this is one of the best relatively new places on the SouthCoast and I can tell you that we will be back! We found the prices fair for the portions and quality of food. On a side note, if you’re looking to try something new before or after your visit to 19 Prime Tapas, take a look at our review on Stumpy’s Hatchet House. It’s a quick 5 minute ride and makes a great pairing for a date night.
Head over the 19 Prime Tapas for lunch or dinner and tell them Two Girls Spooning sent you!
Happy Spooning!
