The Tree House Tavern and Bistro

I think we can all admit that as kids, we thought about how cool it would be to have a tree house in our backyard. A whimsical place up high in a tree surrounded by magic and happiness, void of adults and where all the neighborhood kids wanted to be! It was nice to dream!

The Tree House Tavern and Bistro embodies that whimsical, joyful vibe and couples it with delicious food…truly a winning combination! Surprisingly, the Tavern is right off a main road in Warwick which was not what I expected. I was envisioning an older looking cottage style house, set back in the woods down a long dirt road. Clearly I watch too much TV! 🙂

As we walked up to the Tavern, the noise of the road disappeared and upon opening the door we were transported to a place that I can only describe as pure joy! It took a few minutes to take it all in…. from the colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, to the gigantic giraffe and bear just waiting for a picture with a guest.

We had made a reservation about a week ahead, and were seated immediately at a table by the fireplace We could see a fairly good size bar to the right and another room with a fireplace off to our left, but what was behind us was the real treat. Read on to find out more……

As usual, Jessica and I eyeballed all the dishes that passed us hoping for some help in making our choices. For starters, Jess chose the Braised Rib Soup ( $6 ) and I chose the Honey -Orange Glaze and Crystalized Toasted Garlic wings ($15). The soup was filled with veggies, potatoes and most importantly braised ribs! The soup was steaming hot and full of flavor. Comfort food at it’s best! Jessica left not a drop in her cup! The crispy, mouth watering wings had just the right amount of orange and honey with the toasted garlic as a perfect compliment on top. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of orange flavored food but I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I did. The leftovers made for a nice snack the next day thanks to the air fryer 🙂

The menu isn’t extensive but there is something for everyone. For her main course, Jessica ordered The Seafood Ravioli ( $38) Topped with pan seared native sea scallops, the lobster ravioli sat in a delicious vodka cream sauce topped with pieces of fresh lobster. A seafood lovers paradise and vodka sauce? Jessica was in foodie heaven and holding herself back from licking the plate.

I ordered the Spring Statler Chicken ( $28) served with the creamiest whipped mashed potatoes and sauteed greens. The moist chicken fell off the bone with little effort and the wild mushroom marsala was the best that I have had to date! The flavor was bold but not overpowering and once Jessica snuck in a taste it was hard to fight her off from wanting more. Back off… this was not to be shared! LOL! Two meals down and two big thumbs up!

We were both just about full but we saw the dessert tray at a nearby table and decided we should make the sacrifice for our followers and order dessert. Kudos to the Tree House Tavern for having dessert samples visually displayed and brought to the table. It’s a great marketing strategy, especially if your guests are on the fence about ordering dessert.

It’s been a few weeks since our visit but I want to say that there are at least 6 dessert options. Jessica chose the chocolate chip cookie sundae, and I had to try the Bailey’s pudding with Oreo crumble. Jessica’s sundae was loaded with hot fudge, caramel and Reese’s pieces sitting on top of a fresh cookie bowl. Oh so good! My Bailey’s pudding was, in a word, HEAVEN! The Bailey’s wasn’t overpowering and the addition of the cookie crumble was just perfect! I do not have dessert prices but I don’t recall them being unreasonable for what we ordered.

I want to add that our waitress was also absolutely fantastic! I don’t recall her name but she was extremely personable and was even excited when I showed her our ” You’ve Been Spooned” card and told her about the blog. I wish I could remember her name because outstanding employees should be recognized, especially in the service industry.

Now…if you’re still with me, you will recall that I had mentioned we noticed people going outside, so when we paid our bill we ventured out the mysterious back door. I thought I loved this place before I opened the door, but once I walked outside I KNEW I loved the Treehouse Tavern!! My pictures don’t do it justice! There are several seating areas with a fireplace tucked away in their own little nook, all leading to the most adorable and inviting outdoor dining area.

The weather was perfect, so had I known, I would have asked for outdoor seating when making the reservation. Next time Treehouse…..next time!!! I would be content ordering some wings and a Bailey’s pudding while enjoying the outside Treehouse area. It’s just that damn adorable!

The Treehouse Tavern is a winner! Fair prices, great food and the most inviting atmosphere make the Treehouse a must visit in our opinion….but don’t just take our word for it. Make a reservation and check it out for yourself. http://www.thetreehousetavern.com/
