R1 Indoor Karting
Looking for something indoors to get you through the last few weeks of Winter? We highly suggest you take a ride to Lincoln, Rhode Island to R1 Indoor Karting!! Along with an indoor race track, they offer a game room, billiards, axe throwing and interactive fun with Time Zone.
Jessica and I started off on the race track for 2 races. We were given Helmets and neck braces before getting in to our cars. The cars certainly have some pep and the track is long enough to pick up a good amount of speed as well as make some hairpin turns. There are signs letting you know where to slow down, and the staff has the ability to stop the cars remotely if needed in the event of a problem. I was impressed with the safety precautions and felt completely comfortable speeding around the track. They also have a big screen on the wall where you can see how you placed amongst the other drivers.
After our races we had a few hours before our reservation for Time Zone so we spent some time in the arcade area. We were unaware they had food, otherwise we would have grabbed a bite to eat while we waited. Pizza, chicken tenders, fries, tacos and a few desserts. Nothing fancy but enough to satisfy your hunger with a large bar to grab a drink while you wait. BONUS: A girl scout troop was selling cookies so, of course, we HAD to buy a few boxes to support the kids! LOL!
When it was our turn for the Time Zone we had no idea what to expect but were excited to try something new. The Time Zone is considered like a time machine with 25 portals that put your intelligence, physical condition and hand-eye coordination to the test. The goal is to complete the challenge in each room to accrue points. They have a few big screens that show you what place your team is in compared to other groups playing. Some of the rooms were a challenge with only the two of us so we suggest 3 or 4 people to maximize the effort. We really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back again with some friends! I snapped a few pictures, but they had to be done quickly because once the door shuts behind you time is ticking away.
R1 offers great fun for adults and in our opinion, older kids. The karts are single seats and you have to have a license to ride. The Time Zone has a few rooms that kids would be able to participate in but even when we were there, we only saw a few younger kids. This is a great place for a Bachelor/Bachelorette Party, a day out with friends and even a double date night!! Pricing and packages can be found here:https://r1indoorkarting.com/
Go have some fun and don’t forget to tell them Two Girls Spooning sent you!
