Gather(glass blowing studio) Providence

Glass blowing is something that has been on my must try list for as long as I can remember. I actually don’t remember how I stumbled upon the website for Gather, but I’m glad I did!

Gather offers a one hour “make your own” workshop with various options on what you can make. The also offer more in depth glass blowing classes. You find all the details at their website: https://www.gatherglass.com/

Upon our arrival we were greeted by our 2 glass blowing professionals (their names escape me, as we went a few months ago). We immediately felt comfortable as they explained how our experience would proceed and had us pick the colors we wanted for our ornament. We were happily surprised to find out that we would be making two ornaments and would be able to pick our own colors.

Once we chose our colors, were learned in more detail about the glassblowing process (very interesting) and we were ready to start. Jessica wanted me to go first ( as always) because she was nervous ( as always…lol)

From heating up and forming the ornament to blowing the glass and adding the finishing touches, our instructors were there every step of the way. They truly make it a fun, hands on, and safe experience.

Our experience was $60 and, in our opinion, definitely worth it! Makes a great date day or night and you can even bring your kids ( as long as they are over 8 years old). Gather glass can be found at 521 Atwell Ave at the bottom of Federal Hill. There’s ample parking in back of the studio and we recommend hitting up one of the great restaurants on the hill when you’re done.

We wanted to try a new place for a quick bite to eat and we decided to try Federal Tap House and Kitchen on the Hill. Definitely a pub style atmosphere with a great young vibe and tasty pub food. On the way home we stumbled upon a hidden gem in Farm Fresh Rhode Island!! This is a non profit, year round indoor farmers market offering, produce, home made goods and entertainment. Within the building there is also a great little coffee place called Happy Harvest, Wright’s Creamery ( amazing ice cream and goodies) and Tallulah’s Taqueria Mexican restaurant.

Unfortunately, it was close to closing time for the Farmer’s Market so we will go back soon but I grabbed an ice cream and Jess had a coffee for the ride home. We are planning to return soon and take more time to look around and enjoy the entertainment.

We didn’t take a ton of pictures at lunch or at the market, but here are a few to tempt your taste buds.
